LSG was commissioned to provide a new stained glass window for St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watertown, NY. The church wished to replace their existing 12-ft diameter rose window with a design that would better match the style of their beautiful nave windows.
The existing nave windows (shown on right) were crafted using mouth-blown glass. The figures are hand-painted and kiln-fired.
The new rose window design draws inspiration from the glass colors and design elements of the existing windows. The rose window is crafted from imported mouth-blown glass as well and features the holy spirit dove at its center. The result is a window that is so consistent with the existing stained glass that it looks as if it were installed with the nave windows a century ago.
A new energy-efficient aluminum frame was fabricated and installed by LSG to support the new stained glass. The window is protected on the exterior with laminated safety glass.
