10-ft Diameter Stained Glass Dome – Concept A
Description
This dome design uses a palette of fine opalescent glass to create a focal centerpiece within the Joint Hearing Room. The design includes 24 lancets arranged in a circular pattern. The lancets align with architectural elements within the surrounding ceiling. These repetitive geometric patterns contribute to a sense of elegance and order to the Joint Hearing Room.
One of the main design elements is Maryland’s State Tree, the White Oak. Oak leaf patterns and acorns instill a sense of strength and longevity, drawing on symbolism of the mighty oak tree.
Finally, the crown of the dome depicts a subtle compass rose suggesting a sense of direction and purpose. This element also references the naval heritage of the Annapolis area, adding a further layer of significance to the design.

10-ft Diameter Stained Glass Dome – Concept B
Description
This dome design uses a palette of fine opalescent glass to create a focal centerpiece within the Joint Hearing Room. The design includes 12 lancets arranged in a circular pattern; 1:2 for the surrounding architectural ceiling elements. These repetitive geometric patterns contribute to a sense of elegance and order to the Joint Hearing Room.
The mighty white oak tree is not represented in this concept. Instead this design uses a more traditional organic approach to the perimeter border.
The crown of the dome depicts a prominent 24-inch diameter compass rose suggesting a sense of direction and purpose. This element also references the naval heritage of the Annapolis area, adding a further layer of significance to the design.
